COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls Athletic Department and the Frank P. Phillips Memorial YMCA have formed a partnership to better serve the Columbus Community and The W campus. In one of its first collaborations, the Owls Athletic Staff has offered its time and energy to the YMCA’s Rock Steady Boxing Class.
DuBois, Penn. – After a long and competitive season the inaugural season of The W baseball team concluded during the fourth round of the USCAA Small College World Series. The Owls played well against Selma University but late inning errors cost them the game and ended The W’s journey to the USCAA championship.
DuBois, Penn. – The W softball team ends its season in the fourth round of the USCAA Small College World Series on Wednesday, May 16. The Owls battled hard against the No. 4 seeded NHTI but they were unable to overcome the fatigue of a long week. The Owls fell 3-2 after a NHTI seventh-inning rally.
DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls baseball team did not allow the three-hour weather delay to shake their focus in Wednesday night's competition. Despite the late start time, The W players remained sharp and pulled out a 4-3 victory over Florida National in the third round of the USCAA Small College World Series.
DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls softball team proved that it was the team to watch with a 6-2 victory over Penn State University – Schuylkill in the third round of the USCAA Small College World Series. With Tuesday’s success, The W moves on to the elimination round semi-finals.
DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls softball team grabbed an early lead against defending USCAA Small College World Series champions St. Mary of the Woods College in the second round of the tournament. The W battled hard but struggled to prevent an opponent rally falling 5-4.
DUBOIS, Penn. – The Owls baseball team was unable to make a clean sweep in day one of the USCAA Small College World Series. After taking the first game of the day in a late inning rally, a repeat victory was not in the cards for The W, falling 10-1 to the No. 1 seeded University of Cincinnati – Clermont.
DUBOIS, Penn. – Senior pitcher Cara Hopper showed her experience and skill on the mound to deliver 11 strikeouts with one hit-against in the Owls 7-0 victory over Penn State – Beaver in game one of the USCAA Small College World Series. The Steen, Miss. pitched the best seven innings of her career to improve to 7-6 on the season.
DUBOIS, Penn. – This entire season Coach Matthew Wolfenbarger has preached to the Owls baseball team to continue the fight even if they find themselves down. In game one of the USCAA Small College World Series, Coach Wolf’s words stuck with his team and The W was able to overcome a 7-3 deficit to take Florida National 10-9.
The Owls Athletic program currently offers 10 sports with over 100 student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. The W athletic program, after a 15 year break, is constantly growing with additional teams being added during the 2018-19 academic year. As we embark on attaining membership in NCAA Division III and compete in the always competitive NCAA South Region, we need your help to push the department forward.
