SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Owls baseball team was unable to grab a win against Sewanee: The University of the South, dropping their third and final game of the series. The W moves to 9-6 on the season after the 18-10 loss against the Tigers.
Leftfielder Leon "Trey" Petite led the Owls at the plate with a 3-for-4 outing. The Loxley, Ala. native was also credited with one run and one RBI. With two RBIs each, Damain Benefield and Brandon Jones brought the most runners home for The W in the Saturday matchup.
On the mound, David Standifer collected his first loss on the season. The Mobile, Ala. native pitched 1.2 innings for six hits against, nine earned runs, and one strike out.
The Owls will travel to Selma, Ala. to take on USCAA sister institution Concordia College – Alabama on Saturday, March 17. The first pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
