COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's soccer team has six games left in the 2017 season and is looking to end the season on a high note. With two back-to-back wins on the road, the Owls will travel to the Crown College of the Bible and Johnson University with a new found confidence and energy that only wins can bring.
The W (2-7-1) grabbed a 4-1 win at Oakwood University on last Friday for its historical first men's soccer win. The team followed the victory at Hendrix, defeating the Warriors 4-3 on Tuesday.
The Owls offense is led by Jacob Johnson and Paxton Bounds who have been the driving force behind The W success. Johnson leads the team in shots with 13 shots. Playing in 10 matches with nine starts, the senior forward has also collected one goal, one assist, and four shots on goal.
Bounds leads the team in goals with three. Playing and starting in all 10 games, the junior forward has tallied nine shots with six on goal. He was also credited with one assist.
In front of the goal, John McGee has seen the most playing time of the four MUW goalkeepers. McGee leads the team in saves with 41 and received credit for the Owls two wins this season.
The Owls will take on Crown College on Friday, Oct. 6 at 4pm/3pm CST. Then on Saturday, Oct. 7, the team will take on Johnson University at 6 p.m.
