KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Owls men's soccer team found a 2-2 draw at Johnson University on Saturday, Oct. 7. Despite a well-played second half by both teams, the host school was not interested in overtime play and a tie was called at the end of regulation.
"Tonight's match was a bit disappointing for the guys," said head coach Tim Gould. "We allowed an early goal but fought back to tie the score 2-2 at halftime."
In the second half, both teams had opportunities to close the match but neither was successful.
The Owls opening goal was scored by Johnson who knocked the ball into their own goal and The W's second goal was scored by Paxton Bounds. Bounds scored an unassisted goal to prevent an Owls loss.
John McGee guarded the goal for The W the entire game to allow two goals with two saves.
The Owls will be back on the field on Wednesday, Oct. 11 when travel to Selma, Ala. to face Concordia College. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
