COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women men's soccer team will be back on the road for midweek action as the travel to Selma, Ala. to face Concordia College. The Owls (3-7-2) will face the Hornets (8-3), a USCAA sister institution, for the second time this season on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
In the first match-up, Concordia defeated The W 4-1 on the Owls home field. With the second match on the road, MUW is looking to split this series in a similar fashion.
The Owls soccer program has been on the rise with three wins in the past two weeks. Paxton Bounds, junior midfielder, has been leading that effort, scoring eight goals of The W's 15 during that time period. The Pearl, Miss. native leads the Owls offense with 17 points. He has recorded 8 goals and 1 assist with 11 shots on goal and two game winning goals. He is one of four Owls who has played and started in all 12 matches.
In front of the Owls goal, John McGee has been the go-to starting goal keeper. Playing in nine games with nine starts, McGee has racked up 697:20 of playing time with 22 goals allowed, 41 saves and a .651 save percentage.
Kick-off against the Hornets is scheduled for 4 p.m.
