MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Owls men's soccer team is back on the road this week as they travel to Memphis,Tenn. to take on Hendrix College. The now 1-2-0 Owls are looking for a second road win as they face the 2-2-0 Warriors.
The Owls enter the contest after falling 4-1 to Millsaps earlier in the week. The W played well defensively but got bogged down by fouls and other penalties which prevented the offense from moving down the field. The Owls look to cut down on pentatilies in this competition and create more offensive opportunities.
LaRico Lewis, a junior forward, leads the Owls offense. The Douglasvillle, Ga native played in three matches with two starts to record two goals and eight shots.
Defensively, John McGee spent two matches in front of the goal for the Owls. McGee, a sophomore from Troy, Ill., has played two complete games to record seven saves for a .333 save percentage. Sharing goalkeeper duties, Jakob Williams defended The W goal in a full match plus overtime against Berea. The Moorpark, Calif. native recorded five saves with two goals allowed for a .714 save percentage.
The Owls take on Hendrix College at 2 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn. at Rhodes College. The W will then have a day of rest before taking on host school Rhodes College on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2:30 p.m.
