MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The W softball team falls to 17-15 on the season with a doubleheader loss at Huntingdon College. Despite the Owls fierce defense, the team was unable to outlast the Hawks at the plate for the loss.
Game One (L, 1-0)
The Owls softball team played well against Huntingdon defensively but The W was unable to get the offense going in game one.
Offensively, The W tied Huntingdon in hits at the plate but committed but was unable to score a run.
Owls pitcher Madison Scoggin took the loss on the mound to fall to 6-7 on the season. The junior left-hander pitched 6.2 inning for five hits against and one earned run.
Despite going scoreless, Carolyn "Kendall" Wilkinson had an almost perfect outing at the plate. Wilkinson tallied three at-bats and recorded three hits.
Game Two (L, 2-1)
The Owls were able to make it to the scoreboard in game two but despite another great game offensively, The W was unable to get pass the Huntingdon Hawks for the second loss of the day.
In the second match-up, Cara Hopper was credited with her fifth loss of the season to go 5-5 on the season. The Steen, Miss. native produced three strikeouts with four hits against and two earned runs.
The Owls will return to action at home when they host Stillman College on Wednesday, April 11. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Don Usher Field located on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women.
