COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's soccer team used all efforts to defend against Millsaps in the inaugural Military and First Responders Match on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The team played extremely hard and kept the match tight, but despite the efforts the Owls came up short for a 1-0 loss.
Goalkeeper Sarah Gilliland defended the Owls goal for the entire match. The sophomore from Brandon, Miss. prevented one goal while allowing one to control The W defense.
"Tough one tonight. I thought we played well enough to get a result," stated Head Coach Gray Massey. "Hats off to Millsaps for putting their chance in. We will regroup from tonight and get ready for Friday."
The Owls women's soccer team will go back on the road on Friday, Sept. 14 when they travel to Itta Bena, Miss. to take on Mississippi Valley State University. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
