Volleyball Comes Up Empty at Covenant, 0-3

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls volleyball team took the road to Covenant College for a midweek match-up on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The W put up a major effort but could not get pass the Scots falling 3-0 (18-25, 9-25, 19-25).

For the second match in a row, Haley McMurphey stepped up to lead the Owls offense. The junior from Caledonia, Miss. played all three sets to tally 20 total attacks for six kills. On the defensive side of the ball, McMurphey picked up five digs and two block assist.

Also aiding the offensive effort was Madison Lamon and Mary Grace Prine. Both Lamon and Prine led the team with seven assist each. Defensively, Prine recorded a match high of 10 digs to carry the Owls defensive efforts.

The Owls will have a short rest before heading to Sewanee, Tenn. to face the Tigers of Sewanee: The University of the South tomorrow Wednesday, Sept. 12. That match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. If you cannot make the trip to Tennessee, you can watch the live stats and live stream: HERE.
