Cross Country Competes in the Rain to Finish at MC Opener

CLINTON, Miss. – The Owls cross country teams began their 2018 season at the Mississippi College Season Opener on Friday, Aug. 31 at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss. The men’s cross country team finished 13th out of 14 participating schools and the women’s team finished 11th out of 11.

COLUMBUS, Miss. - The Owls men’s and women’s cross country teams open up their season on Friday, August 31 at the Mississippi College Season Opener at Choctaw Trails. The men’s 5k will begin at 5 p.m. and the women’s 5k is set to start at 5:45 p.m.

2017 Athletic Director's List Announced

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Director of Athletics Jason Trufant and the Owls athletic program would like to take the time to congratulate the 51 scholar athletes who worked hard in the classroom to garner GPAs of 3.0 or better during the fall 2017 semester. Because of their academic efforts, the 46 scholars have been named to the 2017 Athletic Director’s List. Of the 51 scholars, 25 received GPAs of 3.5 or better and six maintained perfect 4.0s.

Cross Country Finishes 7th at the Watson Ford Invitational

CLINTON, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women cross country team competed in its first 6K run of the season at the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7. The Owls were pretty steady in their pace to finish 7th with an average time of 36:31.89.

Cross Country Finishes 20th at the JSU Foothills Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Mississippi University for Women cross country team placed 20th at the 12th Annual JSU Foothills Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30. The Owls second 5K run of the season took place at the Oxford Lake and Recreation Center. Competing against 30 team, 21 of which were in the non-Division I category, the Owls recorded 588 total points with a total time of 2:28:55.70.

Cross Country Sees Improvement in First 5K of the Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mississippi University for Women women’s cross country team finished in 24th place at the Rhodes College Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16.The Owls competed against several NCAA Division I athletic programs, including Arkansas State University, University of Memphis, Mississippi Valley State University, Jacksonville State University, Alabama A&M University, and Jackson State University. Despite the stiff competition, The W kept pushing and finished its first 5K run of the season.

Athlete of the Month

Brandon Walker Men's Golf COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls Athletic staff has selected men’s golf player Brandon Walker as the Renasant Bank Athlete of the Month. The junior business administration major received All-Academic Team honors for a GPA greater than 3.5. He has led his team in 3 out of 4 tournaments, playing his best two rounds at the USCAA National Championship with an overall score of 144. For his effort, the Vardaman, Miss. native placed sixth in the tournament was named to the All-Tournament First Team.
