COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's basketball team was unsuccessful in its first outing of the 2020-21 season against Campbellsville University – Somerset Friday evening. The W played hard, but with only two weeks of practice before the season opener, the team could not shake the first game jitters to fall 90-76 to the now 3-1 Tigers.

Brien Kimmons put up 20 points in the late week match-up. The Olive Branch, Miss. native, went 6-for-13 in field goals with one 3-pointer and 7-for-9 at the free-throw line.
Quintiyus Causey also aided offensively with 14 points to round out the Owls double-digit scoring.
For Campbellsville, Kourtney Ware was the leading scorer with a game-high of 32points, and Keelan Kennedy recorded the game's only double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Rounding out double-digit scoring, Meith Reclow added 13 points to the Tigers offense.
As a team, The W went 26-for-68 from the field for a 38.2 shooting percentage. The Owls put in 22-of-39 attempts at the free-throw line, and from beyond the arc, they scored 2-of-17.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 16, when they take on Campbellsville – Somerset for the second game of the series. Tip-off is set for noon. Follow all of the action at OwlsAthletics.com.
