Pohl Gym
The Pohl (pronounced "Pool") Gymnasium has been home to The W volleyball, men's basketball, and women's basketball since athletics was reintroduced to the campus in 2017-18. The facility features the main competition court, which can be divided into two courts for volleyball tournaments. In gameday configuration, the gym features chairback seating for 570 fans on its west side. Additionally, portable bleachers are available on the west side of each baseline.
The lobby of Pohl Gym features lounge seating areas, a concession stand area, as well as ample restroom facilities. On its upper concourse, Pohl Gym has team rooms, the athletic training room, and a walking track. A skywalk leads across 11th Street South to the Stark Recreation Center.
The gym is located on the southwest corner of campus on 11th Street South, between 5th and 6th. Parking is available along 11th Street South, as well as in the gravel lot just south of the gym.
Pohl Gymnasium is named after Emma "Ody" Pohl, head of the Department of Physical Education for more than 50 years. The current Pohl Gym is actually the second incarnation of the building, which opened for use in 2007. The original Pohl Gym was located on what is now the lawn and gravel area in front of the gym; it was destroyed by a tornado in November of 2002, with athletics being disbanded after the spring of 2003..
