BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Mississippi University for Women cross country ran its final tune-up prior to the USCAA championships, competing in a dual meet at Blue Mountain College. The Owls' men's team was defeated, 15-48, while the women were downed, 15-50, on the Toppers' Trail course.
Both races were 5-kilometer events.
For the Owl men, it was
Carson Holly – a freshman from Winona, Miss. – leading the way. Holly placed seventh overall in a time of 16:07 minutes.
Fellow frosh
Joshua Gonsalves (Hattiesburg, Miss.) was eighth. Gonsalves crossed the line at 16:27 minutes.
The W women were led by freshmen
Kaitlyn McRee (Shubuta, Miss.) and Kaylee Sanders (Saltillo, Miss.).
McRee finished the course in a clocking of 21:43 minutes. Sanders was close behind at 21:58 minutes.
MUW will now wait and see which team members participate in the USCAA championships on November 12, in Virginia Beach, Va., run at the Military Aviation Museum.
