COLUMBUS, Miss. - Owls Softball split their doubleheader against the Vols of John A. Logan College during their first at-home match at Don Usher Field. While Game 1 was a rocky start for the Owls, letting the Vols get ahead 8-0, they found their footing in Game 2, securing the 3-1win.
Game 1 (L 8-0)
Kaitlyn Parrish started in the circle for the Owls in Game 1, allowing one run in the top of the first and three runs in the top of third before
Amelia Stalter came in to relieve. During her time, Stalter allowed five hits with four runs and one walk.
On the plate's offensive side, the Owls struggled to string together a response to the Vols, leaving runners stranded in multiple innings.

The Vols last runs came in the top of the sixth inning, and the game came to a close when the Owls failed to respond in the bottom half.
Game 2 (W 3-1)
In the second game of the day, Mackenzie Denton proved to be a formidable threat to the Vols offense. Denton only allowed four hits, one run, no walks, and four strikeouts in seven full innings of work. The Vols only run came from the top of the second inning, and then their bats fell silent throughout the rest of the contest.
On the other hand, the Owls came alive in Game 2, with
Megan Cummins scoring in the bottom of the second, the RBI being credited to Marley Poole.
Miranda Nash was able to double in the bottom of the fourth but was stranded after a fly-out and a strike-out. The runs that secured the win for the Owls came in the bottom of the fifth inning, which Denton started strong with a single, followed by a walk, a throwing error, and another single.
