Owls softball had a successful day on the road yesterday, sweeping Judson College 11-8 and 9-3. This brings the Owls to 13 wins on the season, with six games left on the schedule.
Game 1 (W 11-8)
All three Owls pitchers saw action in Game 1, with Amelia Statler starting the game. Stalter put in 5 innings of work, allowing 1 run off 6 hits with 4 strikeouts. Kaitlyn Parrish came in in the bottom of the 6th inning and faced 15 batters. Parrish allowed 5 runs on 3 hits, striking out 3 batters and walking one. Mackenzie Denton came in to close out the bottom of the 9th inning, facing 6 batters. Denton's stats included 2 runs on 4 hits with no strikeouts and no walks.
In the batter's box, Austyn Holden collected a 2 run double and a stolen base, while Lauren Duckworth went 3 for 4 with 2 stolen bases. Miranda Nash and Katie Beth Williams also collected doubles in the outing, with Nash stealing one base and Williams stealing 2. It was a great day for bunting, with 5 of the Owls getting down sacrifice bunts to move runners.
Game 2 (9-3)
Mackenzie Denton was the solo Owls pitcher for Game 2, completing all 7 innings in the circle. Denton allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, striking out 3 batters and walking 4.
Helping herself out, Denton went 2 for 3 at the plate with 1 RBI and 1 stolen base. Morgan Gresham had a day at the plate, going 3 for 3 at the plate with 4 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Hannah Hurdle and Megan Cummings went 2 for 4 in Game 2 with 1 RBI. Lauren Duckworth, Katie Beth Williams, and Jessica Deming all collected a single stolen base, while Ashton Farnell collected 2.
