COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women Director of Athletics
Jennifer Claybrook has announced that
Buddy Foster has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director. Foster is in his second year with the Owls Athletics program as the Head Softball Coach, a position in which he will continue along with his new administrative responsibilities.
"I am thankful to Jennifer (Claybrook) for giving me this opportunity," Foster said. "It is an exciting time to be in Owls Athletics. We have a tremendous staff, great student-athletes and I hope my years of experience can be an asset for them."
Foster served as The W's Interim Director of Athletics in 2021, prior to Claybrook's hiring last July.
"Having Buddy accept this additional role as the Assistant Athletic Director strengthens our program," Claybrook stated. "His previous experience in an administrative capacity – along with his established working relationship with our staff – made him the obvious choice to fill this vital position within our intercollegiate athletics program."
"I truly am excited about the future of The W Athletics. Buddy has a demonstrated background of being committed to the student-athlete experience, as well as fostering a culture of NCAA compliance, which will be paramount to our program during the transition process to full NCAA Division III membership."
Previously, while taking time away from his coaching career, Foster served as the Director of Athletics at Morthland College in West Frankfort, Ill., during the 2015-16 school year. In his first season as the Owls' softball mentor in 2021, The W went 17-14 and placed sixth at the USCAA Small College World Series.
Foster earned his MAE from Greenville College in 2014. He completed a BA in Liberal Arts at Southeast Missouri State University in 1991.
