Box Score BATESVILLE, Ark. – In a game where neither team was able to build a sizeable lead, the Mississippi University for Women came up short at Lyon College, 83-79. It was the first time that the Owls (8-9) and Scots (6-7) have met in nearly three seasons (last facing off on Feb. 4, 2020).
LC now leads the series between the schools, 2-1.
The balanced match-up saw neither team with a lead of more than single digits at any time and, in the final 10 minutes of the game, both teams staying within three points of each other the bulk of the time. The Scots biggest cushion was nine points (20-11) at the 10:38 juncture of the first half, while the Owls held a three-point margin (70-67) with seven minutes left in the contest after a

Brye Hopkins jumper with 2:26 left in the second half game the Owls their last lead of the game, 79-78. Unfortunately for the visiting MUW squad, it would also be its last points of the game as Lyon closed matters on a 5-0 run to ice the win.
The W had no less than five players all finish in double figures, led by
Thomas Wright's 17 points. He hit 8-of-13 from the field - while pulling down eight rebounds and dishing four assists - giving him double-digit scoring in 16 of the team's 17 games.
Hopkins and
Quintiyus Causey each managed 14 points. Hopkins snared six rebounds and Causey had a team-leading four treys made.
Andrew Shepherd added 11 points.
Shon Wright had his fourth double-double game of the year – and second in a row – by scoring 10 points and hauling in 12 caroms. He also gave off four assists.
The W men will next travel to Greenville, S.C., to face Bob Jones University on Saturday (Jan. 21/3 p.m. CT).
