Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Mississippi University for Women tennis teams both found the road rough on Friday afternoon at Greenville University. The Owls women's (0-3) and men's (0-3) squads both suffered 9-0 setbacks at the hands of the Panthers' teams.
In the women's bout, after losing Nos. 1 and 2 doubles by 8-1 scores, the No. 3 tandem of
Kelis Griffin and
Jaysa Whatley was topped, 8-4.
In singles play, the Owls were defeated in straight sets in all six matches.
Macie Manasco at second singles lost 6-1, 6-1 and Whatley, playing No. 6, fell 6-2, 6-1, as the lone Owls managing to win a game n both of their sets versus the strong Panthers' team.
The W men suffered a similar fate versus Greenville. MUW's Nos. 1 and 3 doubles teams were blanked 8-0, with the No. 2 pair of
Sam Yarborough and
Adrian Barber trimmed by an 8-3 score.
The men's singles players were also toppled in straight sets in all six matches. At No. 2, newcomer
Jaylen Lewis lost 6-1, 6-1 as no other Owl took a game in both sets off the Panthers' lineup.
