COLUMBUS, Miss. - The W Athletics continued to push itself in the classroom, as well as on the fields of competition, with 140 awards being given on the 2025 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll. To make the Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for the term.
"Congratulations to our fall student-athletes for earning this honor," MUW Director of Athletics Buddy Foster said. "As an NCAA Division III institution, it is always our primary goal to achieve excellence in the classroom, first and foremost. All of these individuals should be proud of demonstrating the balance of hard work in both competition and academics with equal fervor. And while we are proud of what we've accomplished in the fall term, we always want to strive and challenge all of our student-athletes to do even better in the spring term."
The Owls produced a 3.10 grade point average (GPA) for the fall term for the department's 15 intercollegiate programs (indoor & outdoor track & field are counted together).
In all, 133 unique individuals – 64 percent of MUW's total of 208 student-athletes - made the A.D.'s Honor Roll (there were a total of seven two-sport athletes being cited among the honorees). Of those 133, a total of 80 produced a 3.50 or better GPA, which represents 60 percent of those on the A.D.'s honor Roll and 38 percent of all MUW student-athletes.
No less than 35 individuals – 25 percent of Honor Roll designees and 17 percent of all Owls' student-athletes – had a 4.0 GPA for the fall term.
Nine of The W's 15 programs produced team GPAs of 3.0 or better, as well. The women's golf team led the way at a 3.60. That was followed by women's soccer (3.48), women's cross country (3.48), volleyball (3.42), softball (3.42), baseball (3.27), men's golf (3.27), men's tennis (3.12), and women's tennis (3.09).
