Owls’ pair earn UMAC South Sportsmanship honors

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W tennis teams have each had a player selected to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) South Division All-Sportsmanship Team, it has been announced. Recognized from the Owls women's squad was Davianna Brent (Greenwood, Miss./Greenwood H.S.), and recognized for the men's team was Jasper Poag (Columbus, Miss./New Hope H.S.).

Brent, a junior, appeared in eight of the team's 10 matches in 2024-25, including all four UMAC South contests. She is in her third season with the MUW program and is a graphic design major.

Poag, a senior, was a four-year letterwinner for the Owls' program. He is one of just two team members to play in all 12 matches in 2024-25 for The W. Poag is a communications major who also was the play-by-play voice for MUW basketball, baseball, and softball in 2024-25. 

Poag was also among the 42 student-athletes from MUW's inaugural class inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma athletics honor society in 2024-25.
