GREENVILLE, Ill. – The W women's and men's track & field teams both earned third place finishes at the 2026 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Outdoor Championships, at Greenville University. The Owls had a combined 17 event medals won, as well as setting seven school records at the two-day event.
MUW women's team member
Ariella Jones was voted as the Field Events Freshman of the Year. Cassidy Talley for the ladies and
Kobe Smith for the men were both recognized on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for their respective genders.
The W women picked up a total of nine medals, crowning one champion in freshman Cassidy Talley in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:09.58 minutes. Talley also picked up a pair of silver medals with the Owls' 4x100 and 4s400 meter relay teams, both of which earned silver.
Likewise, teammate
Armoni King ran on both relay quartets. King was also the runner-up in the 100-meter dash (12.63) and earned bronze in the 200 meters (26.37).
Junior distance specialist
Hannah Owens had the only women's record in the 10,000-meter run, besting her own record by finishing in a time of 41:20.00 minutes and a fourth place. Owens was also fourth in the 5,000 meters at 20:37.46 minutes.
In women's field events,
Brooklyn Kelley was second in the shot put at 11.21 meters. Teammate
Arie'Onna McCollum took third in the event at 11.11 meters, while also getting a silver in the discus with a throw of 35.03 meters.
Jones was third in the triple jump, with a leap of 10.70 meters, and placed fourth in the long jump. She also ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay.
Also picking up relay medals was
CeCe Cowan in the 4x100.
Sacaria Wofford and
Kamiyah Whiting were on the 4x400 relay group.
On the men's side, the Owls had two gold medalists. In the high jump,
Tyler Bohannon – who just two months ago was a part of MUW's SLIAC-champion men's basketball team - set a meet record with a winning height of 2.01 meters (6'07").
Malachi Morgan also cleared 2.01 meters, but earned a silver based on makes.
Morgan picked up two other silvers, finishing second in the long jump (7.00m), as well as running the lead leg of the 4x100 relay.
Owls also went 1-2 in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Mikendall Morris set a school record with his winning time of 15.50 seconds. Teammate
Allen Fields was second at 15.60 seconds.
Sophomore
Noel Kellum won bronze in the discus with his MUW record heave of 42.04 meters. Kellum also ran on the silver medal 4x100 relay and bronze with the school record 4x400 (3:26.92).
Bryson Boler and Smith also ran on that 4x100, as well as 4x400 teams. Jarvis Sellars was the fourth member of that 4x400 unit.
Smith was also sixth in the 100-meter dash, setting the MUW record by crossing the line at 10.79 seconds.
Two other men's records fell in the javelin and hammer throw. Nicholas Martin had a throw of 47.32 meters in the javelin, good for fourth place.
James Nesby, who was fifth in the hammer, broke The W school record on his final effort of the day, 38.30 meters.
