Congratulations to our Owl of the Week for the period of April 27-May 3, 2026:
Cameron James of men's golf. James, a native of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, called upon his previous tournament experience to make his last hurrah as a member of The W Golf a memorable one, indeed, at the 2026 SLIAC championships. James was the wire-to-wire leader in taking medalist honors – which comes with the SLIAC Player of the Year trophy, as well – and first team All-SLIAC status. After Day 1, James sat in a tie at the top of the leaderboard, posting a two-under-par round of 70. While the second round was halted midway due to weather, and resumed on the final day, James' focus remained singular, as he carded a 6-under 66 for round two, which tied for the second-lowest round ever recorded in the SLIAC championships. James finished the long third day with a final round of 78, still good enough to win the tourney with a 2-under-par aggregate of 214 for his 54 holes. That was two shots clear of runner-up finishers Tyler Wengronowith of Lake Forrest College, the No. 114th ranked player in NCAA III, and Spencer Moody from team champion Grinnell College, both of whom shot level par totals of 216.
