COLUMBUS, Miss. - The W golf program has had four of its players – two women and two men - honored in their respective genders for the 2025-26 Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). Recognized from the Owls' rosters were
Ashley Estabrook and
Isabel Velazquez for the women, as well as
Bryce Denley and
Alexandre Thery for the men.
For Estabrook, a junior from Truckee, California, this marks her second consecutive Academic All-District® honor. She is a three-year letterwinner for the Owls who has earned back-to-back SLIAC All-Academic Team accolades, and was also selected to the league's All-Sportsmanship Team in 2025-26.
Velazquez (Daphne, Ala.) was a junior transfer to MUW this season from Jefferson State Community College. She had a second-team All-SLIAC finish this past season, placing 10th at the SLIAC women's championships on October 5-7, 2025.
Denley and Thery were both newcomers to the MUW roster in 2025-26, helping The W to a SLIAC runner-up finish. At the SLIAC men's championships, Denley, a junior transfer (East Central C.C. & Talladega College) from Mandeville, La., tied for 12th place to earn All-SLIAC second team honors after returning from a shoulder injury early last fall.
Thery, a junior transfer from Charlieu, France, was a first team All-SLIAC finisher, tying for sixth place at the league finals. Thery was also honored on the SLIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team, as well.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's and Men's At-Large Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom, for all sports which do not have their own Academic All-District® award category during the year. To earn Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and hold a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Additionally, each must appear in at least 75 percent of their team's competitions or in the conference championship lineup.
