OXFORD, Ala. -  The W cross country teams kicked off the Labor Day weekend by competing in the 20th annual Jacksonville State University Foothill Invitational on Friday morning at Choccolocco Park. The Owls' women's team was 20th, while the men finished 17th in 5-kilometer races packed with upper division programs.
 
The MUW men's team was led by sophomore Jarvis Sellars. Sellars' time of 18:43.10 minutaes was the fourth-fastest 5K time in school history, good for a 113th place finish.
 
Noel Kellum was the next Owl across the line in a time of  20:44.0 (140th). Kellum was followed by a trio of newcomers in Welton Davidson at 23:23.9 (153r), Trevor Davis at 24:58.2 (158th), and I'Monn Hill at 25:04.6 (159th).
 
Onn the women's side, it was senior Hannah Owens heading the team for the 20th-consecutive time in her career, hitting the tape at 22:22.30 minutes. Owens placed 101st.
 
Freshman Rachel Lochridge finished at 26:46.0 (147th), followed by Cassidy Talley at 31:08.4 (158t) and Brianna Brown at 31:44.5 (160th). Ketu'rah Johnson ran a 32:30.6 (162nd) to round out the MUW finishers.
