Mattie Newman enters her first season as a member of the Owls softball team.
High School
Newman attended South Lamar High School in Millport, AL. There, she was a member of the Beta Club, National Honors Society, National Technical Honors Society, HOSA, and Educational Talent Search. She was also a member of the Stallions volleyball and softball teams.
Her academic achievements include class historian, highest average in government, math, and English, Citizenship Award, Principal's Award, and Madison Orr Memorial Scholarship recipient.
For her efforts on the field, she was named Second Team All-State, All-State Honorable Mention, Hustle Award, Utility Player, Most Valuable Player, and highest average.
Personal
Newman is the daughter of Mat and Jen Newman. She has one sister; Emma. Here at The W, she is studying elementary education. She enjoys spaghetti, the movie "The Goonies", and the song "Good Life".
