THE W ATHLETICS HALL of FAME
NOMINATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2025 HALL of FAME CLASS INDUCTION: Spring of 2025 at Homecoming
**Nominations close November 30, 2024**
PROCESS
There are four major categories for induction to the HOF. They are, followed by a brief description of each:
Student-Athlete: Must have competed in a varsity sport at The W. Must have left The W in good standing. Eligible 7 years after final season of competition. Should have graduated from The W (special circumstances will be considered by the Committee; i.e.- went into military service, signed to play professionally, etc.). Those considered should have attained a minimum of all-conference accolades – or the equivalent - during their career.
Team: This shall be for teams that, by their successes, brought distinction to The W. Teams nominated should have won a conference, regional or national championship (special circumstances will be considered by the Committee) or the equivalent. Teams are eligible 5 years after their season is completed.
Coach/Administrator: This recognition is for Coaches, Staff, and Faculty members who, by the achievements of their teams and/or efforts on behalf of Athletics, brought distinction to The W. Those selected shall have left the University in good standing if they are no longer employed by The W. There are no time restrictions on these nominations.
Distinguished Service: This honors those who have, by their efforts in time, service, financial support, etc., greatly advanced the intercollegiate athletics program. Those elected do not directly have been affiliated with The W by enrollment or employment (i.e.- local business leaders, etc.). In addition to their contributions, those elected should represent the ideals and mission of The W. There are no time restrictions on these nominations.
FREQUENCY
HOH ceremonies shall occur in the fall or winter, every two years, in odd-numbered years. I.e.- the first induction shall occur in the fall/winter of 2023-24. Then in 2025-26, 2027-28, 2029-30, etc.).
Each nominee will remain on the HOF Nomination List for five (5) years from the induction year nominated (i.e.- the “five-year clock” on a nomination received in 2022 would begin in 2023 and expire after the 2027 induction and before the 2029 considerations). That gives each Nominee three “cycles” for consideration: the current year, plus two. If a Nominee is not elected once the five-year period lapses, they may be re-nominated. A Nominee’s five-year nomination period begins with the initial nomination and re-nomination cannot occur until those five years expire.
Those nominating should fill out the official nomination form completely and as accurately as possible to ensure the best consideration.
