Scott Mularz

YEARS AS THE W HEAD COACH IN 2025-26: 5th

Scott Mularz took The W head coach reins prior to the 2022 campaign. He came to Columbus after spending the previous five seasons (2017-21) at LaGrange College, an NCAA Division III school in LaGrange, Georgia, where he served as pitching coach and as assistant head coach.

Overall, he has more than a decade of experience as a college coach.

2025 proved to be one of incredible success in all aspects. After a slow start (1-7), MUW caught fire to finish 21-17 overall and second place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), for both the regular season and post-season tournament. Numerous individual accolades followed, as senior Landon Clark was voted as an All-American. Clark and Zach Johnson were both All-Region honorees, as well as All-SLIAC players (along with teammates Avery Benson and Baron Brack). 8 Owls were SLIAC Academic All-Conference Team members.

In 2024, Mularz ushered in the NCAA Division III era for The W baseball, as well as the University's first season as a member of the SLIAC. The season saw Mularz's Owls reap the rewards of their building process with the squad posting a record of 22-15 and 11-7 in the SLIAC (good for fourth place). It was the 16th-biggest turnaround in all of D3 baseball from the previous season. MUW also earned a spot in the SLIAC post-season tournament in Year One as a conference member! Clark was a first-team All-SLIAC pick, with Tyler Estabrook (second team), Matthew Windham (second team), and Brack (third team) also honored. Six Owls were SLIAC Academic All-Conference honorees, as well.

In 2023, The W was 6-25-1 and endured some tough losses along the way. In the classroom, the Owls had a quintet of players - Estabrook, Tanner Evans, CJ Wise, Clark, and Chase LeBlanc - all honored on the USCAA All-Academic Team.

In his first season in 2022, the Owls went 14-19. After dropping its first six games of the year, The W won six-of-seven to close out the campaign on a high note. The then-freshman Clark was an honorable mention USCAA All-American. Five players were named to the USCAA All-Academic honor roll, as well.

Mularz helped LaGrange College go 138-51 in his five years at the school. The Panthers won four conference titles and earned four NCAA tournament regional berths. In 2021, the team had a 3.1 grade-point average.

Mularz also served as an assistant baseball coach at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia, and at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. Mularz helped Southern Poly go 46-19 and advance to the NAIA World Series in 2014. He coached the Southern States Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year and two all-conference performers. Mularz coached an All-American, four All-South Region players and had 12 players named all-conference in five seasons at Huntingdon.

Mularz played baseball for two seasons at the University of South Alabama, where he went 6-0 with two saves and was a member of the 2002 Sun Belt Conference championship team. He spent the final two years of his college baseball career at Auburn-Montgomery. Mularz won 17 games and recorded three saves, helping lead the Senators to the NAIA World Series in 2006.

Mularz and his wife Elizabeth have one son, Easton. The family resides in Columbus.
