COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls women's tennis team took on Delta State University in a homecoming match on Saturday, March 30. The W did the best it could against the NCAA DII opponents but the Owls were unable to pick up a point for the 9-0 loss.
Owls duo Sandy Bonucchi and Laura Kate Inman faced off against the Statesman's E. Cardenas and N. Sato. Delta State claimed the first point of the match 8-0.
In the second doubles match, Emma Potter and Nicole Rensink for The W dropped 8-0 to Stateman's unit K. Holway and S. Nash. to give DSU a 2-0 advantage.
The Owls had to forfeit the third doubles competition due to lack of players.
In the singles match-ups, it was much of the same with the Owls dropping every match 6-0, 6-0 and forfeiting two.
The Owls will be back in action on Saturday, April 6 when they travel to Jackson, Miss. to take on Belhaven University. The first serve is set for 10:30 a.m.
