Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – For the second time in less than 24 hours, the Mississippi University for Women women's basketball team lost a road decision at Hendrix College, this time falling by a 58-46 score at the Garrison Center.
The loss dropped the Owls to 1-11 overall, while the Warriors evened their record at 5-5. It was the fourth-consecutive home court victory for Hendrix.
The loss overshadowed another standout game by Columbus' own
Rokila Wallace. Wallace extended her skein of consecutive games in double-digit scoring this season to 12, thanks to her game-leading 24 points. Wallace connected on 5-of-17 from the floor and went 13-for-17 from the free throw line. It was Wallace's fourth-straight game – and eighth game overall - with 20 or more points in a contest.
Wallace also notched her fifth double-double of 2021-22 by grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds (eight on the defensive end), staying on the floor all 40 minutes.
Jasmine Shaw had a nice all-around effort with six points, four rebounds and three steals. Freshman
Jaycee Haynes chipped in five points.
Another of the Owls' freshmen -
Hannah Duran – did a little bit of everything versus Hendrix. Duran had four points, hauled in five rebounds and dished off for three assists. She was also stellar on defense, making two steals and blocking a pair of Warrior shots, as well.
Junior post player
MG Chamberlain cleaned the glass to the tune of six rebounds, while also booking four points. Three points from
Cassidy Murphy capped The W's scoring.
MUW's women completed calendar 2021 with the game at Hendrix and will not be in action again until January 15, 2022 when the team travels to Pensacola Christian College.
