COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Owls men's basketball team falls 0-3 on the season after a devastating loss to NAIA powerhouse Talladega College Wednesday evening. The W did its best to hang in the game offensively but was no match for the experience Tornadoes to fall 101-41.
Starting in his first game this season, freshman forward
Terry Coleman, Jr. led the Owls in scoring with seven points and four rebounds.
Ddallen Bailey came in a close second with six points to top off The W's scoreboard.
As a team, the Owls struggled to land shots, shooting 27.5 from the field, 25.0 in three-point range, and picking up four points on seven attempts at the free-throw line.
Talladega had four players score in the double-digits, including Amir Yusuf who led the Tornadoes with 21 points. Kamron Brice put up 20 points, Tony Hutson scored 16, and Paul Turner hit 10 to round out Talladega's top-scorers.
As a team, the Tornadoes shot 56.2 percent from the field, 51.7 percent in three-point range, and 57.1 percent at the free-throw line.
The Owls will be back in action on Monday, Feb. 15 when they travel to Talladga, Ala. to face the Tornadoes on the road. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
