Men's Soccer Concludes Season Against Andrew College

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W men's soccer team closed the Spring 2021 season with a loss to Andrew College on Thursday afternoon at Sprint Mart Field inside the Columbus Soccer Complex.

The Owls played Andrew College twice this week, grabbing the first match 2-0 on Monday but dropping the second one, 2-1. Because Andrew College is a junior college, the stats do not count toward The W's record, so men's soccer concludes the season 0-2.

Tonight was the last night that senior goalkeeper John McGee donned the Owls men's soccer jersey. The Troy, Ill., native gave an excellent final performance, tallying seven saves with two goals allowed.

The match remained tied until the 20-minute mark when Jamal Perry scored the Tigers' first goal to end the stalemate. The two teams continued to push each other defensively for the remaining minutes of the first period to enter halftime, with Andrew College having a 1-0 advantage.

Asahel Salgado prevented the Owls' shutout, scoring The W's only goal 11 minutes into the second half. Nolan Scott sealed the Tigers' victory, scoring the game-winning goal with just under six minutes to play to give Andrew its first win of the season.
