NEW ORLEANS, La. – Xavier University baseball team had a hot afternoon at the plate, defeating The W 15-0 on Friday at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans, La.
The Owls had a tough time scoring, recording three hits during the 7-inning game. The W also had a hard time in the field, committing three errors.
Blake Estabrook,
Joel Estabrook, and
Matthew Bumpous recorded The W's only hits on the afternoon.
On the mound,
Brady Jones (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season. The senior from Louisville, Miss., pitched 1.2 innings for one strikeout, six hits against, nine runs (seven earned), and four walks.
Blaize Gann and
David Standifer entered the game in relief. Gann pitched 2.0 innings for one hit against, two earned runs, five walks, and two strikeouts. Standifer pitched 2.1 innings for four hits against, four earned runs, and four strikeouts.
The W will be back in action on Saturday at noon when they take on Xavier in the series's final two games.
