Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls women’s soccer remains unbeaten in 2022

DECATUR, Ga. – The Mississippi University for Women women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in 2022, thanks to its 5-0 shutout at Agnes Scott College. In their two contests this season, the Owls have outscored their opponents, 9-1.

"It was another great road win with us playing fantastic soccer," The W Head Coach Catie Lyles said. "Every player saw action in today's game. I am so proud of every person on our roster for stepping up and playing our style of soccer. We just have to keep going up from here."

The Owls dominated the contest by out-shooting the Scotties, 18-8, and were particularly deft with their efforts. The W put 11 of its attempts on-frame for a .611 shots-on-goal average.

Conversely, ASC put four shots on-goal, only to have all of them turned away by The W goaltenders. Olivia Clark had three saves in her 84:29 minutes of work and Sarah Robinson had one save in 5:31 minutes, as the duo combined on the 13th shutout in program history.

Brendaisha Garrett got things started early for MUW, scoring her first goal of the season just 2:40 into the match. While that goal was all the Owls would prove to need, there was still plenty more to come from Lyles' offense.

In the 12th minute, junior Kendry Crabtree scored her first of two goals in the match, making it 2-0. Crabtree would also tally the Owls' last goal of the afternoon in the 75th minute.

Junior midfielder Allyson Goza netted her first goal as a member of The W, upping the visitor's advantage to 3-0, as it stood until the intermission.

Less than four minutes into the second stanza, Molly Moore's second goal of the year made it 4-0. Crabtree's goal made it the 5-0 final score.

The Owls will be idle until next Thursday and Friday (Sept. 8 and 9) when the squad travels to Illinois for a pair of tilts versus future St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mates Principia College and Blackburn College, respectively.
