BATESVILLE, Ark. – Mississippi University for Women's volleyball team lost at Lyon College, 3-0, in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) matchup. The Owls fell to 7-19 (4-12 SLIAC), while the Scots upped their record to 14-16 (8-7 SLIAC).
Coming off of a non-conference win in three sets last night at Crowley's Ridge, The W was not able to match Lyon's offense on Wednesday night. The Scots out-hit the Owls by a .318 to .088 average, had a 44-25 advantage in total kills, and a 9-1 margin in aces.
Llayne Skinner's eight kills led MUW, with
Amonie Silas adding six kills.
Haley Ridings chipped in five kills and posted the team's best attack average of .500 (zero errors in 10 attempts).
Madison Suggs led the back row with 13 digs. Skinner was close behind with 11.
Allison Carpenter made nine digs, as well.
Setters
Karmen McCrory and
Hannah Duran each had seven assists.
The W will next be in action on the road Saturday for a SLIAC doubleheader at Blackburn College, versus the host Beavers and also against Principia College.
