DANVILLE, Ky. – Mississippi University for Women men's soccer was unable to generate any offensive results, dropping a 3-0 non-conference match at Centre College. The Owls (1-6-1) were shutout in a game for the second-straight outing, in being blanked by the Colonels (4-5-0) at Amend Field.
A potent CC attack produced a 42-to-3 margin of shot attempts, in favor of host Centre, including 22-1 in on-goal shots.
A by-product of the CC offensive charge was that MUW goalkeeper
Zach Seymour set a school record for saves in a match. Seymour turned away 19 of the 22 volleys by the Colonels on frame. That bested the previous record of 16 saves, co-held by Selvin Lopez (2017) and current teammate
David McCutchen (2021).
The Owls' lone shot-on-goal came off the foot of
Cristian Canas in the second half.
Nolan Owens,
Victor Gomez, and
DJ McElroy each had shot tries which were off target.
The W returns to SLIAC play next Thursday (Sept. 28/4 p.m.) at home versus Blackburn College at the Roger Short Soccer Complex.
