ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Mississippi University for Women men's basketball absorbed an 80-60 road loss at Webster University in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) contest. The Owls fell to 7-17 overall (3-14 SLIAC), while the Gorloks evened their season record at 12-12 (11-6 SLIAC).
It was the sixth-straight loss for MUW, which will close out the 2023-24 campaign on Saturday at Westminster College (3 p.m.).
Chris Evans continued his hot play of late, leading The W with 15 points on a 6-of-12 shooting effort from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Evans pulled down six rebounds – all defensive - and dished off a team-high five assists.
Sophomore
Josh Dukes was an efficient 6-of-7 from the floor, on his way to 14 points, along with six caroms.
Cam Smith and
Andrew Shepherd chipped in seven and six points, respectively.
Isaiah Ball and
Dariun Doss each booked five points. Doss corralled a game-best 10 rebounds, as well.
Webster shot a blistering 51 percent from the field – nearly 59 percent in the second half alone - as the hosts saw its lead balloon from single digits to 20 points in the final segment.
