ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Mississippi University for Women lost to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) leader – and #22/#25-ranked - Webster University, 99-61, where they have plenty of company in doing so in 2023-24. The Owls (7-14, 6-11 SLIAC) became the 24th victim for the unbeaten Gorloks (24-0, 17-0 SLIAC).
But as much as Webster has run through the SLIAC like Sherman through Atlanta, The W junior guard
Conley Langford has, individually, done similarly as she continues to demonstrate her abilities versus any – and all – comers. That includes the SLIAC's leading team, as Langford finished with a double-double (only the second player to do so against the Gorloks in a league game this season) of 21 points and 14 rebounds, both MUW team-leading totals. She also made three steals.
It was also Langford's 29th-consecutive game, dating back to 2022-23, with double-figure scoring. It was her eighth double-double game of 2023-24, as well.
Claire Leak tallied nine points.
Zoe Essary and
Darby Pitts each booked eight points. Freshman
Leileigh Moody turned in a seven-point, seven-rebound, performance.
MUW is still in the hunt to make the SLIAC post-season, currently tied with Fontbonne for the sixth, and final, berth, with one game left to play. To get in, the Owls need a win Saturday at Westminster College or a loss by Fontbonne in its regular season finale at Spalding. The W holds the tie-breaker versus the Griffins.
