COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W women's soccer matched visiting Huntingdon College for the first half of its season-opening match before falling by a 3-0 score at the Roger Short Soccer Complex. The Owls are 0-1, while the Hawks are 1-0, after the non-conference tilt.
MUW was outshot for the match by a 21-5 margin. However, the Owls made the most of their chances by putting four attempts on goal. Both teams found more chances in the second half, with HC taking 13 of its shots and four for The W.
Anacia Leyland and
Kiersten Taylor each had two shot tries for MUW. Leyland put both of her attempts on frame.
The W goalkeeper
Alex Moon had eight saves on the night.
The Owls will next be in action on Sunday (Sept. 1) at home (4 p.m.). The W will be hosting LaGrange College in a non-conference battle.
