COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W volleyball pushed Westminster College and Lyon College – currently the Nos. 2 and 3 teams, respectively, in the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) – to the brink, but lost five-set decisions to both foes. The Owls (5-14, 2-7 SLIAC) fell to Westminster by set scores of 19-25, 25-17, 25-15, 22-25, 15-13, in their morning match, before losing to Lyon, 25-19, 18-25, 24-26, 25-15, 15-13, in the afternoon contest of the SLIAC tri-match at Pohl Gym.
MUW battled the Blue Jays (21-6, 8-1 SLIAC) tough. The match had a total of 34 ties and 29 lead changes.
Sophomore
Megan Neeb, a former New Hope High School product, led all attackers with 18 kills. Neeb had a creditable .240 attack average, while also contributing three of MUW's 10 service aces. She was also errorless in 20 receptions.
Teammate, and junior transfer,
Skye Letson chipped in 13 kills and four blocks.
Avery Watts led The W with five total blocks, to go along with her five kills.
Libero
Brooklyn Comfort had 22 digs and setter
Kinsley Kennedy boked 38 assists. Kennedy also had nine digs and a pair of service aces to her credit. Defensive specialist
Bailee Schmitt matched Neeb with three aces of her own.
Versus the Scots (10-9, 6-3 SLIAC), it was Letson nothing her eight-consecutive contest with double-digit kill totals, and 12th overall in 2025, with 15 in the Lyon loss.
Neeb had a double-double of 10 kills and 15 digs.
Sydney Barrett had a math-leading four blocks (three solo), followed by Watts' three blocks.
Madyson McBrayer added seven kills, while joining teammates Schmitt and Kennedy with three service aces, apiece.
Kennedy managed 35 assists and Comfort made 18 digs.
The W will host Huntingdon College on Wednesday (October 15/6 pm.) in a non-conference match at Pohl Gym.
