ELSAH, Ill – The W women's track and field brought home four medals on its way to a third-place team finish at the 2025 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday at Principia College.
Freshman thrower
Brooklyn Kelley had her team's highest placement, with a second place finish in the shot put, where she eclipsed her own school record with a heave of 11.23 meters. Kelley narrowly missed medaling in the weight throw, as well, with a fourth-place toss of 13.41 meters and placing behind three seniors in the event.
In the 3000-meter run, sophomore
Hannah Owens ran a school record 11:57.04 and finished with a bronze medal. Owens picked up team points for the Owls with a sixth place in the women's mile, crossing the line at 6:34.56 minute.
MUW's other two medals – both third place awards – came in relay races. In the Distance Medley Relay, the MUW quartet of
Kalee Sanders,
Vonisha Towns,
Kendall Clay, and Owens. The group clocked in with a school-record effort of 14:39.26 minutes, coming within two seconds of second place after Owens logged the fastest 1600-meter anchor leg among the teams.
In the traditional meet capper, the 4x400-meter Relay, The W foursome – consisting of
Princess Lofton, Kamiya Whiting, Clay, and Towns – hit the tape in a time of 4:24.44 minutes for the Owls' fourth school record of the day.
The Owls picked up team points from several other quarters, as well. These included:
Kendrailia Nash was fourth place in the long jump (4.79m); Lofton was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.79); Whiting was fifth in the 400 (1:06.96); Clay had a fifth in the 800 (2:51.29); Towns a fifth in he 200 (27.24);
Michaiah Adams was right behind Towns in sixth for the 200 (27.28) and tied for sixth in the 60-meter dash (8.151), as well as;
Makayla Givan in seventh for the shot (9.95m).
