Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Owls men’s soccer toppled by LaGrange

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The W men's soccer played visiting LaGrange College even for the first half, before a second-half onslaught resulted in a 6-1 non-conference loss at the Roger Short Soccer Complex. The Owls slipped to 1-5-0, while the Panthers improved to 2-0-3 on the season.

LaGrange opened the scoring with a goal in the 19th minute. But MUW would climb right back into the match at the 23:10 mark. Following a Panthers' foul, Daniel Holmes took the restart and sent the ball into at the face of the goal, where Luke Bradley elevated and headed the ball past LAG goalkeeper Sawyer Williams to knot matters at 1-1.

That score would stand until the intermission.

However, the unbeaten Panthers would emerge for the second half and dominate the final segment. LaGrange tallied goals in the 54th, 59th, 77th, 81st, and 84th minutes, all while holding The W's offense at bay.

Owls' goalie Cortland Earl registered five total saves. The Panthers sent 36 shots in Earl's direction, with 11 on goal. The Owls mustered 10 shots, three on frame.

The W will next play the third of five-consecutive home contests on Friday (September 19/7 p.m.) versus Huntingdon College at the Short Soccer Complex.
