PEARL, Miss. – The W baseball lost its non-conference matchup at Belhaven University, 6-3, at Trustmark Park. The loss by the Owls (3-5) was the team's third in a row and second at the hands of the Blazers (7-0) this season.
Senior
Zach Johnson (1-3) was responsible for all three of MUW's runs. Johnson smacked a two-run home run in the first inning, with
Chase Marshall on base, for his first round-tripper of 2026. He then lifted a sacrifice fly in the eighth that brought home
Baron Brack (2-4, 3B).
Unfortunately for The W, in between Johnson's bursts, the Blazers pushed across four runs of their own and then added two more in the hoe half of the eighth for the 6-3 final tally.
Joining Brack with a multi-hit game was senior leadoff man
Matthew Windham. Windham was 2-for-5 in the game, with a double.
MUW starter
Campbell McCluney went 5.0 innings, permitting four hits and two earned runs to Belhaven McCluney struck out four, but walked five Blazers for the no-decision.
Josh Mackey (0-2), the second of three Owls' pitchers, was touched up for seven hits and four earned runs in hi 2.1 inning stint.
Will Carter was perfect in his two-thirds of an inning.
