MOBILE, Ala. - The W track and field teams produced five new school records on Saturday, competing at the United States Sports University Eagles Invitational, at the University of South Alabama. The Owls men were fifth out of seven teams, while the women placed sixth of seven.
Four of the five new school standards came on the men's side of things: the 4x100 relay, discus, javelin, and 800 meters. The lone record for the ladies was in the 4x400 relay.
Junior
Noel Kellum notched a pair of those new marks. The first came in the discus, where Kellum's top effort of 40.01 meters bested the previous standard of 39.00m, earning him fourth place in the meet, as well.
Kellum next picked up a third-place finish in the javelin. Kellum had a toss of 46.46m, which eclipsed the record of 46.39m.
In the men's 800 meters, newcomer
Jarvis Sellers crossed the line in a clocking of 2:00.40 minutes. That lopped more than seven full seconds off of the time of Joshua Gonsalves (2:07.71), set on the very same track in 2023.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team –
Malachi Morgan,
Kobe Smith, Kellum, and
Bryson Boler – won their race in a time of 42.67 seconds. That undercut the previous MUW record of 42.78 set in 2024.
The Owls women's 4x400-meter relay had a second -place, hitting the tape at 4:16.90 minutes. The group consisted of
Armoni King, Cassidy Talley, Sacaria Wolford, and
Kamiyah Whiting. The old record was 4:19.24 minutes, set in 2025.
