ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its academic all-conference awards for the spring 2026 sports season, with The W tennis players earning seven awards. Four from of the Owls' men's team and three women's squad members were recognized by the UMAC for their classroom prowess.
Honored from MUW's men's roster were sophomore
Dylan Barber (Memphis, Tenn./pre-law major.), junior
Alvaro Bardales (Tacna, Peru/biology & business majors),
Ian Costabel (Buenos Aires, Argentina/business major), and sophomore
Sandro Giangregorio (Carabobo, Venezuela/business major).
The W ladies earning the UMAC's all-academic accolades included senior
Brooklyn Ward (Kingsport, Tenn./biology major), sophomore
Alaina Mathis (Brookhaven, Miss./accounting major), and senior
Emma Horton (Caledonia, Miss./kinesiology major).
Individuals who earn a 3.5 or better grade point average (GPA) or better during their respective semesters of competition are recognized with the prestigious individual honor, while the team with the top average GPA in each sport is also recognized. Winter/spring student-athletes were acknowledged for academic achievement in the sports of baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track & field, men's and women's outdoor track & field, softball, and men's and women's tennis.
