Martin Sherrod joined the Owls’ staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2024-25 season. He is well-known in the Columbus area as a local basketball coach and trainer, who graduated from Columbus High School in 2011.
Sherrod has coached the Young and Gifted Ballers, a youth girls AAU basketball team based in Columbus. Under his leadership, the team has won many tournaments and is considered one of the best in the area.
Sherrod believes in developing players who are not only good at basketball, but also have strong character and leadership skills. He is known for ability to connect with his players and help them reach their full potential. Coach Sherrod is dedicated to helping players grow both on and off the court.
In addition to coaching, he also trains athletes of all ages and skill levels. His training programs focus on improving basic skills like ball-handling, shooting, and defense, as well as more advanced strategies and tactics.
“Coach Martin Sherrod has a very promising future in basketball,” MUW Head Coach Eric Vaughn says. “He is a role model for many and is a great example of what can be achieved through hard work and a love for the game.”
