Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the second time in as many meetings, the women's soccer team from the Mississippi University for Women scored a resounding win over Oakwood University. This time, the Owls dominated the Ambassadors on their own pitch, 12-0.
"It was a fun day today," The W Head Coach
Catie Lyles said. "We had many different goal scorers; the girls weren't selfish and were working to get a few girls goals. It was nice to see. We are hoping to take today and go to Texas this weekend and come back with two more wins."
After the convincing 10-0 win in the first meeting between the teams in September, the rematch afforded Lyles the opportunity to give plenty of minutes to her entire roster. All three of her goalkeepers on the roster also got to play in the field during the match, with each member of the trio scoring a goal to boot.
Senior
Sarah Gilliland (Brandon, Miss.) – the Owls starting goalie – did not even play in the nets. Instead, Gilliland enjoyed an opportunity to shine in the field by scoring twice and giving off an assist, as well.
Caitlyn Fox (Saraland, Ala.) played the first 45 minutes in goal and freshman
Haven Tuggle (Columbus, Miss.) – a former Heritage Academy player - the second half. When they were not in goal, each joined the scoring spree by tallying a goal in the match. Tuggle scored in the 15th minute on a penalty kick, while also assisting on the Owls' first goal of the day scored by
Layla Wilson (D'Iberville, Miss.) in the 5th minute. Fox tallied in the 84th minute.
Three other MUW players joined Gilliland with two goals.
Sarah Havens (Hurley, Miss.) (13' and 22') had a busy afternoon with the pair of goals and chipped in three assists, as well.
Hannah Helms (Southaven, Miss.) (31' and 50') and
Leah Anderson (Leyland, UK) (85' and 89') were the Owls' other multi-goal scorers, with Anderson also earning an assist.
Lindsey Moyle (Pearl River, La.) had a goal in the 68th minute, assisted by
Lizzie Truelock (Caledonia, Miss.).
Millie Mask picked up an assist on Helms' first goal, as well.

MUW will next be in action on Sunday (Oct. 3/11 a.m.) at Southwestern Adventist University. Those two teams will also play again on Monday (3 p.m.) in Keene, Texas.
