Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wallace has record performance in Owls’ loss at B-SC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In spite of a record-setting effort from senior Rokila Wallace, Round 2 of the Mississippi University for Women versus Birmingham-Southern College women's basketball series - once again looking more like a track meet with its frenetic pace - went to B-SC by a 119-94 score. Four days ago, the Owls and Panthers amassed 212 points (B-SC 107, MUW 105).

In the two meetings, the schools combined for a staggering 425 points.

Wallace, who was just named as last week's United States Collegiate Athletic Conference (USCAA) "Player of the Week," started this week off with a strong bid to repeat the honor.

Versus the Panthers, Wallace set The W's modern era (women's basketball was brought back in 2018-19) single-game records for: points scored (47), field goals made (14, to tie Myneka Frazier), free throws made (19) and free throws attempted (25). Wallace put up 26 field goal attempts, two off of Frazier's game record of 28.

Wallace also hauled in 13 rebounds versus B-SC. It was Wallace's season-high rebound total and gave the Columbus, Miss. native her third double-double of the season.

Not to be lost in Wallace's huge night were outstanding efforts from several other Owls, not the least of which was junior forward MG Chamberlain. Chamberlain had a season high of 18 points, as well as nine field goals made (in 16 tries).

Senior Christiana Harris added 15 points for her third-consecutive game in double-figure scoring. Harris was 5-of-12 from the floor and 5-for-8 at the charity stripe. She also had four rebounds and a pair of steals.

Jasmine Shaw booked a nice all-around effort with six points, eight rebounds and four steals. Hannah Duran had a team-best four assists, to go along with four rebounds, four points and two blocks.

Maddie Guerin and Cassidy Murphy each tallied two points to round out the Owls' scoring. Guerin also cleaned the glass to the tune of seven rebounds and Murphy hauled in four caroms.

The W will take a respite for Thanksgiving, followed by finals, and resume action on Sunday (Dec. 5) at home versus Rhodes College. Tipoff at Pohl Gym is slated for 3 p.m.
