Sarah Havens followed by a late goal with a little over 10 minutes to play by
Hannah Helms made the difference as the Owls secured their second win of the season.
The first 47 minutes of the match were deadlock between the Owls and the Blazers, with Belhaven taking up much of the possession but was unable to find a real chance. Belhaven played well throughout the 90 minutes but could not get by Owls senior keeper
Sarah Gilliland who tallied 15 saves on the night.
The game changed shortly after the start of the second period when Havens scored on a pass by
Megan Brown passed Blazer goalkeeper Emalea Futrell. The Owls continued to battle and added a second goal in the 79
th minute when Helms scored her first season goal.
The W women's soccer team will be back in action on Thursday, March 18, when it hosts Maryville College. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. in Columbus Soccer Complex at Sprint Mart Field.
