MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The W women's soccer team came out on the short end of a 9-0 decision at perennial power Rhodes College. The Owls fell to 2-3 on the year, while the Lynx jumped their record to 5-1-1.
MUW permitted RC three first-half goals, before the hosts added six in the final segment to break the match open. The Lynx's lone loss was versus NCAA III No. 5-ranked Washington (Mo.) University.
Owls senior goalie
Sarah Gilliland (Brandon, Miss.) faced 17 shots on-goal, registering eight saves. Overall, the Lynx took 28 shot attempts. MUW managed three shots, all on-goal and saved by the RC net-minders.
Senior midfielder
Hannah Helms (Southaven, Miss.) had two of The W's shots in the game. Adriana Parsons (Springdale, Ark.), a sophomore forward, took the other.
The W will try to right the ship on Tuesday (Sept. 28) when it hosts Birmingham-Southern College. Kickoff at the Columbus Soccer Complex is set for 6 p.m.
