JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women women's basketball lost a 64-36 decision at Millsaps College. The Owls fell to 0-4 on the year, while the Majors upped their record to 2-2.
With injuries and illness leaving The W with just five healthy players, MC was able to take control at the outset and never be challenged. The Owls found themselves down 17-6 after a quarter and 31-17 at the intermission.
Freshman
Jas Patrick continued her white-hot start to her career at The W. The newly-minted USCAA Player of the Week registered her fourth-straight double-digit scoring game in as many outings. Patrick had a game-leading 17 points and also pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
Fellow newcomer
Conley Langford added 14 points and four boards.
Reagan Sonnier and
Jaycee Haynes chipped in three and two points, respectively, to round out the MUW scoring. Haynes grabbed four rebounds and Sonnier three.
Ashley Cooper also had four caroms, while dishing off two assists, as well.
The W will next play its home opener on Saturday (Nov. 19) versus Webster University. Tip off at Pohl Gym is slated for 1 p.m.
